With over 1,600 people visiting our Sekforde Street studio, this year was yet another successful one at Clerkenwell Design Week. The studio was home to the official launch of the Parkside x Coco Lom collaboration, where the Hackney-based artist presented 100% British terrazzo tiles in her signature abstract patterns and colours.
Coco Lom gave us front row access to see how she works her magic, creating a large-scale mural of the tile collection live from the studio. Throughout the week we also welcomed Ethical Stone, makers of the Parkside x Coco Lom collaboration, holding workshops using British sourced materials to create a uniquely personal terrazzo coaster.
This year, two new sustainable tile choices were launched at our studio; Alusid Mas and Criaterra 2.0. Alusid Mas transforms low value waste into a ceramic tile with the world’s lowest carbon footprint. Criaterra 2.0 is an improved version of the previous generation, enjoying improved performance while maintaining its 100% natural and biodegradable composition. It uses a manufacturing process that consumes 90% less energy than normal ceramic tile production.
To cap off a brilliant week, the closing party kicked off with Lockley’s Cocktail Lounge welcoming everyone to try their hand at shaking a drink. A fitting way to celebrate one of our most exciting Clerkenwell Design Weeks to date.
